Hum Doom is a data-driven synthesiser installation that brings Feng Shui into contact with financial prediction. Live trading data, historical market fluctuations, and spatial principles drawn from Chinese metaphysics are translated into pressure, pulse, resonance, and collapse. Charts and numerical movements are heard as an atmosphere that gathers, shifts, and breaks apart.
The sound moves between two periods. One carries the memory of the 2007 to 2008 financial boom and crash. The other follows the continuous exposure of live trading. Movements in the semiconductor sector pull against the broader rhythm of major indices, creating cycles that build, collapse, and begin again.
The title refers to hùndùn, an unstable order that can still produce its own patterns. Feng Shui and financial modelling meet here as two ways of reading uncertainty. Both respond to the hope that future movements might become visible before they arrive.
