Cyber Matrix Prison is a multi-screen installation built around a continuously generated digital portrait and a parametric torso. Across five irregular displays, the face moves between human likeness, cyborg anatomy, and synthetic mutation. Some images appear almost familiar. Then the eyes become rigid, facial proportions begin to drift, and the impression of a living person suddenly falls apart. This unstable recognition draws on the uncanny quality of AI-generated faces. Technical detail can appear convincing while expression remains strangely empty. A portrait may resemble a person for a few seconds, until a misplaced feature or an unnatural transition interrupts that familiarity. The closer the image moves towards realism, the easier its errors become to notice.
The portraits continue to change before any single identity can settle. Features return in altered combinations. Expressions merge, disappear, and reappear elsewhere. The title refers to this continuous state of approximation. The generated figure remains suspended between human resemblance and machine interpretation, repeatedly approaching a recognisable body without reaching a stable form.
